CARBON AIS AtoN was deployed on one of the wind turbines and configured to transmit 8 additional virtual AtoN locations such that the entire perimeter of the farm was clearly marked. Carbon is an internationally certified AIS AtoN and was deployed in Type 3 mode which enables the AtoN to operate correctly within the ITU defined international AIS communication protocol where the device must dynamically allocate transmit slots in accordance with the status of the local AIS slot map at the time of transmission.
The certified virtual AtoN feature, enabled Carbon to be easily configured to transmit 8 specific position points which would be displayed on chart plotters and other display systems as an Aids to Navigation defining the extremities of the complete wind farm and thus providing local shipping with a clear warning.
The customer benefited from being able to easily deploy a single AtoN in an external location which would provide an entire standalone AIS hazard warning and marking system for the entire farm.
